It’s easy to fall into a routine. And it’s also very tempting: Master a style or technique that looks good. Gain the attention of an audience that likes your style, and repeat it. Over and over again.

Becoming stale should be a legitimate fear for every creative person. That’s why I try to do as much as possible to keep myself creatively active. It’s curcial to continually explore different genres of photography, to play with unfamiliar lenses, and to collaborate with artists from different fields.

At the end of April 2014, I collaborated with Kerri Miller from Finishing Touches Mobile Hair and Makeup for a creative style shoot. We chose a very loose “Alice in Wonderland” theme, and the rest was “anything goes.” There were no boundaries whatsoever. It was a very liberating feeling. A perfect creative battle ground.

I’d like to extend A BIG thanks to the Finishing Touches team for their incredible work putting this project together. Finishing Touches has a great staff of talented makeup artists and hair stylists that service Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the GTA. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter. I hope the photo results do justice to the amount sweat that went into making the models look so stunning!
